Qurbani Calculation Formulas

Our calculator performs estimations based on the following standard formulas:

Per Share Cost Formula

Cshare = (P + E) / S

Where:
Cshare = Cost per share.
P = Total animal price.
E = Extra expenses (butcher, transportation, feed).
S = Total shares (1 for goat/sheep, 7 for cow/buffalo/camel).

Your Total Cost Formula

Cyou = Cshare × Nshares × A

Where:
Nshares = Number of shares you are taking.
A = Number of animals you are purchasing.

Meat Distribution Formula (Sunnah)

Total Meat = Mfamily + Mrelatives + Mpoor

The recommended Sunnah division is:
1/3 (33%) = For your family (personal consumption)
1/3 (33%) = For relatives and friends (gifts)
1/3 (33%) = For the poor and needy (charity)

This is a recommended (Mustahab) division to promote charity, but you may distribute more or less based on local needs.

Solved Examples

Whole Goat Single Person

A buyer purchases a goat for PKR 65,000. Butcher fee is PKR 3,000. Total estimated meat is 15 KG.

  • Cost: Total = 65,000 + 3,000 = PKR 68,000. Per share = PKR 68,000.
  • Meat Distribution: Family gets 5 KG, Relatives get 5 KG, and the Poor get 5 KG.

Example 2: Cow 7 Shareholders

7 participants share a cow for PKR 3,50,000. Extras total PKR 21,000. Estimated meat is 120 KG.

  • Cost per share: Total = 3,50,000 + 21,000 = PKR 3,71,000. Per share = 3,71,000 / 7 = PKR 53,000.
  • Meat distribution: 120 KG / 7 shares = 17.1 KG per share. Each share is divided as: Family: 5.7 KG, Relatives: 5.7 KG, Poor: 5.7 KG.

Example 3: Family Taking Multiple Shares

A family takes 3 shares in a cow valued at PKR 4,00,000. Extras are PKR 15,000.

  • Cost calculation: Total = 4,00,000 + 15,000 = PKR 4,15,000. Per share cost = PKR 59,286. 3 shares cost = PKR 177,857.

Example 4: Multiple Animals

A wealthy person sacrifices 2 goats (PKR 70,000 each) and 1 cow share (PKR 55,000).

  • Total calculation: 70,000 + 70,000 + 55,000 = PKR 1,95,000.
